Tiwa Savage Fires Shots! “Nigerian Men Are Not Romantic” – And the Internet Can’t Keep Calm!

Afrobeats queen Tiwa Savage is shaking tables and spilling pepper soup on them too! 😅

In her recent no-holds-barred appearance on GRM Daily’s “Thoughts in a Culli,” the Somebody’s Son crooner had a few sharp takes about Nigerian men—and trust us, it’s got the internet buzzing harder than a December wedding!

“Nigerian men do have swag, but they are not really romantic when it comes down to it,” she said with all the calmness of someone about to cause a national crisis.

According to Tiwa, while Naija guys have 10/10 fashion sense and can splash cash like it’s raining loyalty points, they often lack genuine romantic effort. You know… the flowers-for-no-reason, deep conversations, forehead kisses, picnic dates under the stars kind of romance.

She didn’t stop there—she clarified that although Nigerian men can be caring and generous, she’s after deeper qualities, the kind that money simply can’t buy. In her words:

“I’m not looking for that [cash and swag] alone. I want more.”

And just like that, Tiwa threw the whole “soft life with emotional connection” challenge at Nigerian men—and the timeline went wild!

🤔 Social Media Reacts:

  • @SoftKing_NG: “I sabi cook, give foot massage and still send cash. Where’s Tiwa’s DM, abeg?”

  • @GenzSugar: “Wait o, so buying iPhone 15 Pro Max no be romance again?”

  • @FeminineFire: “She said what needed to be said. Romance > rent money. Period!”

👀 CityBuzz Take:

Let’s face it—Tiwa’s not wrong. A lot of Nigerian men believe romance starts and ends with sending you money or taking you out to eat. But sis is asking for emotional intimacy, not just Monalisa plates and Moët bottles.

So, Nigerian men: the ball is in your court. Will you romance or will you finance and ghost? 😅
