LET’S TALK ABOUT GUAVA CULTURE

LET’S TALK ABOUT GUAVA CULTURE

1. Choice of variety:
There are several varieties of guava, such as white guava, pink guava and red guava. Choose the one that best matches your climate and tastes!

2. Weather conditions:
Guava trees prefer warm and sunny weather. They need at least 8 hours of sunlight a day to develop well.

3. Soil preparation:

– Type of soil: Guava trees thrive in a well-drained soil, rich in organic matter. A pH between 6 and 7 is ideal.

– Amendment: Add compost or well-decomposed manure to improve soil fertility.

4. Plantation :

– Spacing: Plant young plants at a distance of about 3 to 5 meters from each other to allow enough room for growth.

– Depth: Dig a hole twice the size of the moth and place the plant, making sure not to bury the collar.

5. Watering :
Young plants need regular watering, especially in the first few weeks after planting. Once established, guavas are quite dry resistant, but adequate watering is essential during hot and dry periods.

6. Fertilization :
Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 2-3 months during the growing season to promote good fruit production!

7. Disease and pest control:
Watch for signs of illnesses such as oidium or insect attacks such as cockroaches and fleas. Use biological methods to control these problems if possible!

8. Harvest:
Guavas are usually ready to be harvested about 4 to 6 months after flowering. They must be slightly firm to the touch and emit a pleasant scent!
